very outdated experience from me: when I first tried gemini something, in an existing rust codebase, it looked around for files that would indicate if its go, javascript, java or c++ project, then declared I must have asked it build a new app in javascript and proceeded to circle around to figure out how it can install node and npm on my machine.
So I totally believe that Gemini is just bad. Which is surprising because Gemma is very good for some tasks, but I never ever had any success with Gemini, be it in cli or chat thing or anything else that has gemini branding.
I 3D printed bunch of "tubes" where cables are stored, caps indicate what is stored inside. As a result, threw away a lot of A->C cables, preserved cursed cables like USB-C to 12V barrel jack.
You can compile any old code with newer rustc as long as old project does not use unstable features that have changed/went away. What are you on? I recently recompiled project from 2015 with latest stable rust just fine.
All breaking changesin rust done via editions and you can mix-and-match editions.
I suspect GP is using system rustc to build random projects off of github and doesn't use one of the distros that actually updates rustc, like Fedora, SuSE or Arch.
Then the conversation is about forward compatibility, whether developers should wait X amount of time before using new std APIs or features, and whether the ease of using rustup and project expectation of it being accessible is reasonable or not.
Morrowind had no guardrails or quest markers, but it had a good story and clear final goal that you learn eventually. No guardrails here mean that you can kill anyone and make main quest impossible to finish, but it had a direction that you can choose to follow. Plus a ton of interesting side-quests.
NMS lack of guardrails is "do whatever you want", story is lacking and only reason to progress "main quest" is to unlock certain things by doing the same thing over and over again: go to the system, scan the planet, investigate the anomaly, rinse and repeat.
Huge turn around for sure, but still extremely shallow. I'm not even saying that because planets and universes are all the same (they are), but saying there is no depth to any mechanic in the game.
I come back to play every now and then and its all still the same.
Its an issue with many sandbox games - a mile wide and an inch deep.
It's literally does not matter in day to day life. In the end you get to X degrees is cold, Y degrees is perfect and Z degrees is hot regardless of C or F.
I grew up using C and now I'm using F, if I move to a country that uses C, I will switch again. Its meaningless.
This is the correct take. The better system is the one that you have intuition in - just keep using that one if building up intuition in a different system is not worth the cost to you. At least when it comes to temperature. :)
Starfield is IMO worse. NMS at least has sandboxes that can entertain you and expeditions can be fun. NMS just doesn't have "goal" to work towards, so unless you can create your own goals its boring. Starfield, bugs aside, had the most boring base-building/operations I've seen in my life.
Well, I take about 2 month off every year. Not all at once, but a week here, week there. No issues.
I also worked in company where this guy was on PTO 6 months a year, but he kept working during his PTO, just on his own schedule. However, at the same company, I recall one coworker had to cancel his flight and company booked him another flight because "we need you to finish this pls". His manager basically beg him to stay one day.
However, in another company, I had issues taking a few days off because "your teammate been here for 2 years didn't a single day off" (I gave them my notice the same day)
So to answer your question from my experience: coin toss and you won't know it until you signed with them. I'd rather take 5 weeks for sure and no calls/emails/texts after the work day.
I'd say the Paris job provides noticeably greater day-to-day life vs Los Angeles with the same before tax salary.
