Hey, at least they used pictures from actual students. I remember looking at promotional material from the higher-ed place I attended and I think I spotted one picture of a familiar classroom with someone I knew, with all the other pictures being of total strangers in rooms that I had never seen. As the school was rather small, I was surprised that it was the case, until I suspected the communication department, unsatisfied with what pictures they had, reached for stock photos.
I remember a story from an acquaintance working in construction. In one case they had to dug up right where a fiber optic ran, so they had cleared it with its operator and waited for their go-ahead. And waited. And waited, until the boss said something to the effect of 'start digging, we have a schedule to keep'...
I'm pretty sure I've only had a plain (chronological) feed since I started using Twitter a few years ago... There's a few times I had to switch back/reenable it, but it's not new. Though I've always hated Twitter's algo so I would have stopped using the site if the chronological feed went missing.
If you'd take the Gates email and give them to my colleagues, saying "this was some random guy complaining about Windows", they'd all react along the lines of "Well, that's just an idiot who makes things up because he's bored and hates Windows. There are good reasons for everything he complained about. He just reports it in a quite dramatized way."
