My little project for today is sort of hardware hacking of Chinese Aubess WiFi switch with power monitor so I can reflash it without desoldering anything. :)

Is there a way to run it on Vulkan?

No. Sadly, NVIDIA killed any kind of compute via Vulkan.

I took few minutes to try to make it work on ROCm (AMD's alternative to CUDA), landed in python dependency hell.

> NVIDIA killed any kind of compute via Vulkan

What do you mean? They are the ones introducing the matmul extensions to Vulkan, which makes compute like this possible

Well, I feel you very much about Python! Also was coding in plenty of languages for past 30 years (assembly, pascal, C, D, java, visual basic, typescript, C++, and so on and so for) and every now and then I wonder if that aversion of mine towards indentation based languages (python, nim) comes from lack of enough flexibility of my mind/aversion towards training my brain to use and recognize different coding way or it is simply because it not ergonomic enough once you reach certain skill level.

You saying it like there are no other easy ways to launder money. Every time I walk by a cleaning service or hairdresser in a less dense populated area I wonder if they are involved in money launderinng.

You saying it like those areas don't need cleaning or hairdressers.

Undoubtedly! I haven't trusted hairdressers for 20 years. I have no idea why people would need to spend money in such establishments. :P

Now those old-timey photo places in every mall in the U.S.? Definitely a money-laundering front.

i've seen a a where three barbershops were a stone's throw away from each other, with a few houses between them on a street in an (only moderately dense) residential area with no carparks anywhere nearby, and wondered how that could possibly have arisen (since they'd detract each other's customers, and laundering operations wouldn't make it so blatantly obvious).

and the same occurs with phone(-repair)-and-vape shops in shopping areas (which I guess are somewhat more understandable, since they only require one employee present each and do get footfall, and the cost to rent a shop has imploded since the coronavirus hit the final nail in the town centre's coffin)

Why would you allow your phone to be a computer if you can sell a computer AND a phone? Allowing "random" OS to be installed on your phone would mean loosing control over your phone (including spying, gathering statistical data to influence major decisions, ability to paralyze communication of your country etc etc)

Android phones are nothing but linux phones and video output (DP over USB-C, earlier MHL) is for many years already included in many phones. I would love to carry one device with everything on it. I would be very happy if that device was like a laptop with detachable core, that acts as phone.

> problems because Dell sourced the absolute cheapest stuff for their computers;

Price itself has nothing to cause problems, it is either bad design or false or incomplete data on datasheets or all of it. Please STOP spreading this narrative, the right thing is to make ads, datasheets, marketing materials etc, etc to tell you the truth that is necessary for you to make proper decision as client/consumer.

It is finally a time to replace laptops with phones and laptop like docking stations. With hardware prices you'll save on buying twice, keep all your stuff in one device etc. That is what any disrupting company should head for.

Almost, local automatic speech recognition with model choice (Parakeet this month) is what keeps me on Mac and away from Chromebook Plus or Android Desktop

Well, I also think that there is a lot that we process 'in background' and learn on beforehand in order to learn how to drive and then drive. I think the most 'fair' would be to figure out absolute lowest age of kids that would allow them to perform well on streets behind steering wheel.

Actually social media is relatively easy to replace and as such not as big threat to European economy as other types of service. The biggest threat from social media is manipulation and collection of data that can be used to manipulate.

Benefits are bigger than anyone realizes. Even if it would cost same it would still be money that are to circulate further in local economy.
