I like to think of them like Docker. None of Docker's functionality was new, they just wrapped it in a smooth enough DX for it to reach escape velocity.
I've had good luck using zswap+zstd on Ubuntu 26.04. I have a Framework 13 (AMD) with 16GB, and have a 16GB swap file configured (ext4 root partition).
I had planned to upgrade the machine to 32GB of RAM but I don't really feel it's necessary at this point. Which is obviously great given the current RAM costs!
There's pros and cons on the longevity side. 24/7 use causes more wear to mechanical parts (fans for instance) but can be better for the electronics, as heat cycles are a big part of the problem there.
Sonnet. It makes my token budget go further and I prefer to have the LLM churn away on rote work while I do the thinking. So while Opus and Fable are undoubtedly smarter, that doesn't materially affect _my_ workflow.
I'm not as up to date on the other vendors' models, but when I last used Gemini my feelings were similar between Pro and Flash.
There's some exceptions to this rule. Google TV devices are Android under the hood and thus, the TV apps are Android apps distributed as apk's just like on smartphones (not web apps).
Most of those are webapps too (just packaged in APK) since it doesn't make sense for most app developers to build a special bespoke version for Android.
If you check YouTube version string you'll see Cobalt as well on Android.
That's what this is. Darwin isn't installable today. Apple just dumps a bunch of source code. Previous attempts at making Darwin bootable didn't go far and had no GUI.
Four years and still pre-alpha. Stick a fork in it.
There's also PureDarwin (?) which had been around forever but last I recall the lone developer was seriously ill and the project was not receiving help. I don't see how this would be any different.
To everyone here cheering this on: when will you be contributing? Or are you just waiting to download it, run it once for the lulz, and drag it to the Trash?

Have you taken a look at the source? A lot of code is missing, and more gets redacted with every release. It's pretty clear apple don't welcome contributions and make source buildable
