I am not sure what to make of this devils advocate comment. Are you just throwing opposites at the wall? I genuinely don't know how to interpret the query about attention span?

Are you suggesting that a lower attention span has no impact? I don't know how I would learn things if my attention span was shit, or even sit with difficult problems or emotions and resolve them. Even just general productivity, which, sure there are some arguments about good vs bad productivity, but in general, any form of productivity will benefit from better attention span I think?

I wouldn't call this trauma dumping. It's relevant to the story. As a non parent, explaining his and his partner's experience allowed me to better appreciate the benefits of his startup.

Liminal Dreaming feels a lot more evocative of the state even if the psychologists want to call it hypnagogia.

Holy projection batman.

Might I suggest taking a step back and asking yourself why you were so triggered by the prior post. You made a bunch of mental leaps that are not supported by the prior post. Won't waste my time going through all of them, but the suggestion that they couldn't understand before has no basis in reality, they merely said it's easier to understand with increased fidelity of mocks.

The words can't hurt you. Deep breaths. :)

If your goal was discourse, might I suggest leaving the insults out of the message, it rarely is effectual.

If your goal was simply to insult, might I suggest leaving HNs, your anger and insults do the community a disservice.

It is well documented that Israel had heard rumblings that something was coming.

A year prior, they had documentation of a plan like what unfolded on October 7th, but dismissed it for reasons I won't speculate on. Google 'Jericho Wall'.

Approximately 3 weeks prior to October 7th, Unit 8200 produced a document based on months of research, that showed Hamas seemed to be doing a lot of training and coordinating for something.

In the days prior, Egypt warned Israel that something big was happening imminently, but again, it was ignored for reasons I won't speculate on.

The night before, the IDF identified a number of anomalies in Hama's behavior but did nothing with this information.

A number of members of the intelligence and military leadership have stepped down since, acknowledging the failures.

Anyhow, for whatever reason, your belief that this was completely in character for Hamas, seems to be at odds with the beliefs of Israel's intelligence and military community in the months and days prior to the attack on October 7th. Which is, odd, to say the very least.

Other good bubbles around the world:

US - Trader Joes - Surprisingly good bubbles, couple different flavours but I like the plain shit. I think they use different suppliers regionally, SW US is my jam, it seems to pack a lot more punch on the bubble front.

US - Topo Chico, technically this one is Mexican, but Coke bought it in 2017. It's great. Broadly available in the western US, but should be able to find it in specialty stores throughout the country.

Thailand - Singha in the stubby glass bottles is great.

Vietnam - Danh Thanh. In the glass bottles. If it's plastic bottles make sure it was bottled in the past 30-60 days at most.

These are the ones that come to mind off the top of my head.

UK - Harrogate and Buxton

thank you!

So, what's your proposal for dealing with Trump then? The world waits with bated breath...

May I suggest a very public trial and then seizure of all assets from this family, and then high security South-American prison?

Who would conduct that trial?

Iran could do it

A thrombus is a blood clot in a distal blood vessel. When it becomes dislodged it becomes known as an embolism which, if it settles in a pulmonary or coronary artery, can rapidly become fatal. The chances of this happening are greatly increased in the elderly and those with known circulatory problems.

C'mon litle guy. You can make yourself famous. Be brave and let go of the wall of that leg vein. Say good bye to that comfy cankle and enter into your full glory.

Did you read the encyclical? It's quite the grounded take on AI and the ethics around it.

This feels more like a the company you keep situation than social media nonsense.

You happen to have a social circle that doesn't have any issues with cyclists, perhaps there are a number of them in your group.

But there are almost assuredly social circles that feel otherwise, that revel at the opportunity to roll coal as they pass a group of cyclists, that joke about running them off the road.

A quick google indicates there have been numerous studies on the subject that seem to support the idea that bicyclists are often reviled by some portion of the population, correlated with those who rely heavily on automobiles.

And, I mean, just scrolling this thread seems to show plenty of anecdotes to support the idea. Seems pretty systemic given the breadth of the anecdata.

I could be wrong, but ...

> just scrolling this thread seems to show plenty of anecdotes to support the idea. Seems pretty systemic given the breadth of the anecdata

That reasoning is the epitome of social media self-deception.

I mean sure, if you just ignore the rest of my comment and take that piece in isolation, then I suppose it could further support your claim.

I think the dude above was just explaining the Wolf amendment origins, I don't think it was an attempt to shift blame away from Trump for the current policies or both sides it. Just giving more context as to one specific item listed in the original article, and the ridiculous knock on effects it's had.

Which, in itself, is interesting, and is something that I wasn't aware of. Think it's just an innocuous tangent in this case.

Did the use of Obummer give you that sense?

Was referring to somenameforme's comment who was just stating facts.

There are useful tangents, and not so useful ones. This thread seems to insist on devolving into the latter, so I am out.

Oh we have to worship our ex presidents like kings? It’s possible to criticize both Trump and Obama.

For example my top criticism of Obama is that he killed a 15 year old American child without trial. His press secretary was not only was unapologetic he said “ I would suggest that you should have a far more responsible father if they are truly concerned about the well-being of their children.”

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_of_Abdulrahman_al-Awla...

That father incidentally was another American killed without due process by Obummer’s personal order.

What’s your favorite Obama criticism?

> Oh we have to worship our ex presidents like kings?

No, but we shouldn't excuse wrongdoing by one by reference to something vaguely related by the other. It's fine to criticize both Trump and Obama. It's not fine, as the upthread commenter did and which you are defending, to criticize the Obama administration for actions taken by the Trump administration.

Drone strikes would be my top Obama criticism, followed by not closing Guantanamo, but I can use the man's name without some clever nickname. That's just not worthy of the actual conversation. It a very Trumpian thing to do

Oh I see a unilateral execution program does not warrant a vaguely rude nickname. A bridge too far. Glad you’re concerning yourself with the important issues (while Gitmo remains open and holds people)

>It a very Trumpian thing to do

“Drumpf” and “Cheeto” would beg to differ
