If you're going to combine all the CPU caches into L1 why not also put the RAM and the SSD into the CPU L1 cache as well and just have 1TB of L1 CPU cache?

Working out the cost and power consumption and die size of that might be instructive -- as a kind of reductio ad absurdum...
